13 Reasons Why Network Marketing Is a Good Idea

If you’re looking for a legitimate way to build wealth, network marketing is starting to gain some traction as a viable option.

You may be wondering IF or WHY network marketing should be one of your long term financial strategies.

So let’s take a moment to dissect the reality of the industry and look at it from a logical perspective.

Jim Rohn, one of the leading network marketing thinkers of all time, said “Work hard at your job and you can make a living, work hard on yourself and you can make a fortune.”

He’s also well known for saying “I’m working full-time on my job and part time on my fortune. But it won’t be long before I’m working full-time on my fortune. . . can you imagine what my life will look like?”

All the bad press, bad publicity, and just the general negative connotation toward network marketing can make some people dismiss it without ever really thinking it through.

Are you tired of trading time for dollars?

Tired of living with no chance of leverage and little (if any) potential to advance?

Or maybe you just have bigger plans for yourself and your family and all you need is to find the right financial vehicle.

The truth is, if you live in the United States, where minimum wage hasn’t kept up with inflation, you will never get ahead unless you get creative and implement something with leverage.

A true person of intelligence looks at all relevant information before they make their mind up.

So put on your thinking cap (as they say in school) and block out all the preconceived notions in your mind.

I challenge you to explore the topic with an open mind.

Let’s dive in and look at some of the reasons why network marketing is actually your best opportunity for creating transformational wealth.

Let me start off by saying, building a network marketing business is tough work.

It’s not for the faint of heart, it’s not for the weak, and it’s certainly not for those who are looking for a get rich quick scheme.

But if you’re truly interested in building wealth, it can be a springboard for creating capital, which can be invested in traditional lower risk and lower yielding investments.

It’s also an amazing way to create abundance that can be poured into projects you’re passionate about.

So for those of you with no experience in this industry, I hope to challenge some of your thinking and also serve up some ideas you may not have considered.

If you’re already a network marketing professional, hopefully some of the ideas here will solidify your beliefs beyond the rah-rah motivational talks you usually get at company events.

Without further adieu, here are the top reasons why network marketing should be a key piece of everyone’s financial strategy.

#1) It’s Extreme Enough to
Actually Change your Life

It’s time to flip the script and be done with the status quo.

What is “normal” anyway?

Normal is the 40/40/40 plan.

Work 40 hours a week, for 40 years, so you can retire on 40% of you income.

Most people work 40+ years in a job they might not even be passionate about, just to pay the mortgage.

If you’re lucky, maybe you make enough for some toys and vacations.

According to a recent gallup poll, 85% of people worldwide hate their jobs.

In Japan, it’s considerably worse, with 94% of Japanese people not engaged at work.

It’s gotten so bad in Japan (and suicide rates climbed so high) that the government had to intervene.

If this isn’t your current reality, then you should feel blessed because you’re in a top tier percentage of people in this world.

It’s a sad reality, but it’s reality none the less.

To change the status quo in your life, you’ll have to do something extreme enough to actually make a difference.

Yes, you can save and pinch pennies all your life and make it work.

Nobody needs network marketing.

On your deathbed though, you may look back on your life and wonder why you didn’t at least try to play at a bigger level.

Look at all of the biggest, brightest, and most successful people in the world today.

They don’t abide by outdated business practices.
They don’t swallow the notion that “it’s just the way things are”.
They go out and make something happen!

They certainly aren’t afraid to think outside the box or take some risks with their ego and their money.

Mark Zuckerberg wears a T-shirt and jeans to work, despite owning a multi-billion-dollar Goliath of a company.

When he started Facebook, did he build it as an avenue to a small monthly paycheck? Did he see it as an investment to slowly save for retirement?

Absolutely not!

He knew he was building a gargantuan network.

A profit-oriented, intricate network that would churn out profits on autopilot.

He had a vision.

Did he know just how big his vision was?…
I doubt it.
But as you grow, your vision grows too.

Network marketing applies the same type of visionary and unconventional thinking to business.

It give you an opportunity build something with massive profit potential and the power to change lives.

Build an empire from scratch using leverage with just marketing and connecting, then enjoy the fruits of your labor.

#2) You Can Stand Out…With Commitment

why network marketing - to stand outYou may be thinking- the network marketing industry seems pretty crowded.

While that may seem true, perception is deceptive.

There are hundreds of thousands of people “in” network marketing.

But there are very few who are committed to it.

It’s the dedication and commitment that separates the big earners from those who simply have an expensive hobby.

That’s another reason why network marketing is a powerful financial strategy.

True competition is almost non-existent.

In my experience, most people who join a company or organization don’t commit to doing what it takes to be successful.

This is true in almost every industry, but particularly in multi-level marketing because the barrier of entry is so low.

However, if you approach it like a business owner, it will reward you like a business (actually better when compared to traditional business).

Despite feeling crowded, it’s really not.

In the grand scheme of things, network marketing is a very young economic framework and public perception hasn’t yet caught up with how the industry has matured.

That makes network marketing and mlm an exceptional opportunity for those who are willing to ignore public perception and and position themselves for the societal shift that is percolating.

With the right passion, resolve, and work ethic, you can create a name for yourself in a deceptively UN-saturated market.

The question is, do you have the courage to commit and move right when everyone else is moving left?

Earl Nightingale said “Look at what the majority of people are doing, and do the exact opposite, and you’ll probably never go wrong for as long as you live”.

#3) Why Network Marketing…
Personal and Professional Connections

You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.

This quote has been attributed to everyone from Jim Rohn, to Tim Ferriss, and even to Tony Robbins.

Regardless of who said it first (probably Rohn), it’s still true.

The network marketing arena is an opportunity to align yourself with goal-oriented people who can help you and challenge you.

It provides you a platform to connect with people who will push you to success, instead of aligning yourself with people who whine and complain, but never do anything about it.

These are the doer’s of the world.

I have never seen a business that helps build relationships and create connections better than network marketing.

Everyone benefits from the success of everyone else.
So it only makes sense to help your team become better.

Even if you don’t build a massive organization, you should be involved in network marketing simply for the connections and to be around high achieving people.

Think about it.

You have the opportunity to get to know people who are living life at a different level.

People who can push you to think bigger, dream bigger, and do more.

Before getting involved in network marketing, there was nowhere in my “normal” life that I was able to have authentic conversations or connect with people whose monthly (or weekly) salary dwarfed my annual salary.

I’m an educator by trade. The superintendents salary for my district is probably about a month of income for our top earners…. And we’re a young company!

How is that possible?
How does that work?

The first time I sat in a Lamborghini was because of network marketing.

It was my first mentor’s Lamborghini that he earned as a bonus!

That alone is a great answer to the question “why network marketing”?

When you get to know people (really get to know them, not just know of them) who consistently make over a million dollars a year in pure profit…

It changes your perspective.
It changes your idea of what’s possible.
It changes your thinking.
It changes the questions you ask.
It changes your mindset.

It…   Changes…   Everything.

Do you have goals, vision, skills, and talent locked up inside you?

Do you need permission to chase your dreams and live a life of abundance?

Are your contacts and current environment holding you back?

It is time to stop being mediocre and stop hoping for something to change.

Guess what.
Nothing will change unless you change it!

If Nothing Changes… Nothing Changes.

Newton’s law of inertia states that an object in motion stays in motion and an object at rest stays at rest.

Change doesn’t just happen.
You have to make it happen!

You have to do something to start the process and do something every day to keep the process going.

Surround yourself with big thinkers… with movers and shakers.

If you do that, your thinking will change and your income will soon follow.

#4) Network Marketing Minimizes Uncertainty

why network marketing - financial securityThese days, having a traditional job is like hitching a ride on a deserted highway.

A trucker may pick you up, but there are quite a few bad eggs out there and no way of knowing the good from the bad until it’s too late.

This mirrors the uncertainty of job security today.

Your firm could go into bankruptcy, there could be a sudden downsizing, the economy could collapse, or your boss could just decide you look at him funny and…poof you’re gone.

This is one of the biggest benefits and reasons why network marketing is a good option.

It diversifies your options.

You have multiple streams of income rather than depending on an uncertain future and uncertain retirement at your current employment.

If you believe job security as a good argument for working 9-5 in this day and age, you’ve been living under a rock.

“But… (you say), you can’t guarantee you’ll be successful in network marketing.

That’s true, but you also can’t guarantee you’ll get to keep your job or the same salary.

What everyone can agree is guaranteed, is that most jobs will not create your ultimate dream life.

Unless you’re a CEO of a huge company and make 20 million a year, you’ll have to take massive action to make your dreams a reality… or just dream small, live small, and play small.

The low cost of entry, low overhead, and huge potential payoff is exactly why network marketing is your best bet to creating the life of your dreams.

A life you can be proud of.
A life you are happy to give to your family.
A life that is… quite literally, a dream life.

Lot’s of people talk a good game, but when it’s time to get their jersey dirty and go out on the field, most people let fear dictate their actions.

#5) You Already Network- Why Not Monetize it?

This is the truth, every day we do a lot of casual, unconscious marketing.

Hey Sarah! The new Avengers was awesome;
Oh, I just started using so and so cream, you should try it;
Or you post on social media… Just did so and so… check out the pictures.

It’s time to build an empire and monetize what you’re already doing.

There has never been a better time in human history for the average person to create above average income!

Anybody can create a fortune by investing the work required in the right activities.

If you learn to prospect correctly, it’s not spammy like it was when your broke buddy tried to prospect you.

In addition, network marketing opportunities today are easier than ever to find.

Whatever your area of interest or passion, you can find something that resonates with you.

You don’t have to be restricted to one method of building your business and you even get to learn as you earn.

Because of the ability to scale on a worldwide level, you get to create a customer base and team all over the world.

So instead of giving mega corporations like Marvel, or XYZ cream free publicity, turn your endorsements into a viable income stream.

#6) The MLM Industry
Flips the Switch on Your Mindset

We have to save for a rainy day or money doesn’t grow on trees.

These are quotes that drive the behavior of so many people today.

These comments are rooted in fear.

This fear based mentality and work environment is limiting your potential.

You may be trying to take out a portion of an already meager paycheck in preparation for a gloomy day, but there is never enough.

There’s always more month at the end of the money!

Saving is great, I would never not recommend it.
However, it is the mindset behind it that has to change.

Why not save towards spoiling yourself with a new luxury car or a family trip to an country you’ve always wanted?

Or how about this?… Save up enough to fly to a 3rd world country and build a house for a family who needs it!

That’s on my bucket list.

A drastic change in mindset is needed if you want to create a life of wealth and abundance.

Network marketing is the perfect vehicle for working toward that shift in your thinking.

When you enter this industry, you surround yourself with people who are playing, thinking, and doing at a different level than most people.

People with real grit and determination.

Lots of people can quote fluffy stuff and claim that they have an abundance mindset.

People love the idea of going after their dreams and are more than willing to “like” or “share” an encouraging comment on social media.

BUT, if they aren’t actually taking action to move in the direction of their dreams then they’re deceived.

They’re living a life of fear, lacking courage.

Start planting seeds today, wait for the rain, give thanks, and prepare to reap a bountiful harvest.

Network marketing allows you to create multiple income streams.

You do not have to live defensively, saving every bit of excess you are able to set aside, just because you fear some anticipated darkness.

Instead, work toward creating enough substantial passive income that you can save for a rainy day AND still do some of those dream things (like building a home for the homeless).

#7) The MLM Leveraged Business Model Allows
You To Work Smarter… Not Harder

Let’s quickly clarify a few things before diving into this section.

1. Network Marketing is Not for Lazy People.
Right off the bat, understand that you’ve got to put in a lot of hard work.

If hard work scares you, this isn’t the industry for and you won’t be successful.

But it’s smarter hard work.

What sets it apart from your other options is how your hard work can compound over time.

2. Network Marketing is Not an Easy Wealth Solution.
If it was easy, everybody would do it and everybody would be at the top levels of their companies, rising through all the ranks in 3-6 months.

But not everybody has the grit, determination, and mindset to do it.

The only thing that separates those who do and don’t, is mindset and lack of true commitment.

Network marketing can be closely compared to losing weight.

Losing weight is so simple it can be explained in less than 5 minutes and just a few sentences.

Here goes…
Want to lose weight?
Take in less calories than the energy you expend.
Eat less, eat better, and move more.
Period.

That’s it.

If you do what I prescribed above you WILL absolutely lose weight and keep it off.

Every. Single. Time.

So why do people struggle?… Mindset and lack of true commitment.

What’s easy to do is also easy not to do.

3. Though Not Easy, Multi-Level Marketing IS Leveraged Wealth Building

why network marketing? LeverageUsing leverage is working smarter instead of harder.

Yes, you still have to work hard, but that leverage multiplies your efforts exponentially.

Once you build a solid foundation organization in network marketing, the compound effect takes over and your organization starts to grow organically.

Technology and social media have made building a platform and a network marketing business easier than it’s ever been.

In fact, I would say it’s easier now than it will ever be because in the future more business owners will be treating the business like a business and there will be fiercer competition.

Right now, it’s a small percentage of people who see the big picture.

Getting involved in network marketing right now would be like getting involved with McDonald’s back before everyone realized the power of franchising.

Sure, the company you pick might not end up being the McDonald’s of the industry, but just pick a any franchise you like right now… then ask yourself if you would like to go back and invest with that company the first year they started.

Sometimes, the early bird gets the worm just because they are early and progressive.

As I’ve said, once you’ve established a a solid organization, your heavy lifting is over because leverage kicks in.

Here’s how it works.
Let’s say you’re working for an hourly wage and want to make more money.

In a job, it’s just you, so you’re trading your time for dollars.
The more time you trade, the more you make.

If you want to earn more, the most you could possibly work (assuming you didn’t EVER sleep) would be 168 hours a week (24 hrs. a day x 7 days a week).

You couldn’t possibly do that, but let’s just say you could for the purposes of this illustration.

Now let’s suppose you’re building a network marketing organization.

You decide to devote 10 hours a week to building your business (it can be much more if you want to go fast, but this keeps the math simple for this illustration).

Let’s be realistic and say that we will only count serious people in this example.

Serious means they join your organization and actually commit to doing the work necessary to build a business.

They agree to match your time and energy efforts.
We will not count those that get involved and quit.

Now, suppose in your first year you put in a bunch of people but only find 5 serious people who are working at least as hard as you (10 hrs. a week).

So after year one, you have 60 hours of work (per week) devoted to your business and income growth. (That’s 6 people – you and the 5 you found) x 10 hours a week, which equals 60 hours a week.

Some of those people will get the same results as you do.
Some will likely do better and some will do worse.

But let’s assume the average of all of them is about the same as you.

In the next year, they each find 5 serious people who are willing to work just as hard and you yourself also find five more.

Follow my thinking here and stick with me:

Now you have yourself (1),
plus your first year recruits (5),
plus your second year recruits (5),
plus the 5 serious recruits each of them found (25),
for a grand total of 36 serious business owners each devoting 10 hours a week to their business (360 total hours a week).

Since network marketing has leverage built in, you are now growing your income by utilizing leverage.

In the job example where you trade time for money, you could never work more than 168 hours per week because that’s the grand total of hours in a week (in reality, you’d have to sleep anyway).

Now you have a business and it is AS IF you are working full tilt for 360 hours a week! (36 x 10=360)

But in reality, you’re still committing only 10 hours a week to your part time side hustle.

Take that math 10 years out and you’ll quickly understand why network marketing makes sense and why network marketing is a better business model.

Compare this to the monotonous routine of a job, the necessity to pile on more hours to get a little more cash, and you’ll realize that the traditional job will never give you the leverage you need to bring your dreams to fruition.

** I’ve got to mention here that the numbers mentioned will NEVER work out perfectly.

After rereading this, it sounded like the typical MLM Pitch.

You know the one…. they say, “just get 5 and they get 5 and those people get 5 and so on and so forth.“

That’s hogwash!
It won’t ever happen exactly that way!
You’re dealing with people and people are complicated.
Plus… life happens.

You’ll recruit people and they will quit.
You will recruit some who will go slow & steady.
You’ll recruit some who will go fast.
One might get 3 people and another might get 53.

At the end of the day, the point is, over time you’ll build an organization that is highly leveraged.
It will grow on it’s own, the specific numbers don’t really matter.

The speed your organization grows will be greatly determined by the quality of people on your team and your leadership ability.

#8) Building a Successful Business is Exciting

Life can be boring.
Real boring.

Most people are going through the motions, just trying to live paycheck to paycheck.

They have very little in their life to be excited about.

Network marketing is an exciting industry.
It’s very low risk and the potential payoff is huge.

In addition, once somebody starts getting some traction in their business it starts to become even more exciting for them.

I love to see the light switch go off in a person’s eyes when they start to really understand the possibilities of their business.

That’s the most exciting thing for me.

I want to see people make positive transformation in their lives based on their goals.

Whether that is making an extra $500 a month, $5,000 a month or beyond.

I love to see people succeed.

Often times, the personal development that people immerse themselves in while in this industry bleeds over into other areas of their life.

Often they begin to achieve goals other than just their financial goals.

The problem is that sometimes excitement and hype are interchanged.

You shouldn’t use hype in your business, but it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t embrace the excitement of the business model.

There really is no other model like it and it’s something you can be excited about.

#9) Strong Relationships

I won’t spend much time on this one at all, but it is one of the best things about network marketing.

You meet new people but what’s more important is that you’re all working toward the same goal.

Unlike a typical job where some people are just coming in and working because they need the money, network marketing allows you to work with people who have a common purpose.

You get to do life on a more intimate setting than any other business model.

You really get to know people.

You travel the world with them, you get to know their families, you get to know their hopes and dreams.

The business model itself isn’t that complicated, so you actually get to hang out a lot.

I don’t know how else to describe it, but I’ve made some of my best friends through the network marketing industry.

#10) One Income Source is Insufficient
in This Changing World

why network marketing - secure against changeTake a quick glance at the world around you today.

Costs are rising, inflation has a stranglehold on the economy, and more and more families are struggling with debt.

While the cost of living races on jet engines, the average personal income follows behind in a rickety single propeller aircraft.

You simply cannot rely on one source of income in this economy to provide for your family.

You probably have a mortgage, car payment, outstanding student loans, and credit card debt incurred from when you had an emergency and felt you were out of options.

The system is seemingly rigged to keep people trapped in a cycle of debt and mediocrity.

It’s the curse of the middle class.

Network marketing is a business model that can be methodically applied over time until it generates an income stream much larger than your current paycheck.

The time to plant is NOT when you NEED a harvest.
The time to plant is before you need the harvest.
Dig your well before you’re thirsty.

True wealth creation takes time, energy, and effort.

Why network marketing is great is because you can work toward financial freedom without substantial financial risk.

A few years ago I was on a 3 week murder trial (very interesting by the way).

During that time I met a business owner who had a popular brewery in a prime downtown location.

It cost hundreds of thousands of dollars for him to get that place off the ground.

He invested his life savings into it as the next chapter of his financial future.

This week I learned that it went out of business after less than 5 years of existence.

Now he’s back at zero and starting all over.

There is soooo much that goes into traditional business, there’s very little room for error or for learning.

You better get it right from the start and keep it right.

That’s a tall order. Perfection isn’t isn’t possible in any sector of our lives.

I don’t want to risk the financial well being of my family’s future on a good idea.

I’d rather attempt to create the same positive cash flow without the risk.

I am risk averse. I like big wins with little chance of big losses.

Warren Buffet has said that his #1 rule for investing is to “never lose money”. He’s also said the network marketing companies he’s purchased have been some of his absolute best investments.

It’s not a bad idea to consider the wisdom of one of the richest men in the world when you’re considering the best strategy for improving your finances.

Network marketing is the solution to that problem and it’s the foundation that many entrepreneurs are using today to create excess cash flow.

You’re limited only by the extent of your networking, your work ethic, and your ability to produce.

You have full control over your earnings.

Maybe you’re at that point in your life?

Maybe it’s time to think outside the box and build something that offers more than earning you a living- create a business that has the potential to change your life.

If so, I invite you to come work with us.

#11) Your Dreams Don’t Have to Stay Dreams

There is a great English quote about success- “unless you speculate, you can’t accumulate”.

Simply put, you cannot just hope for a miracle and have your plans magically fall in place.

You must unlock the door to your dreams and turn them into reality.

It sounds so cliché, but it’s true.

You are where you are in life financially right now because of the choices you have made and the actions you have taken (or failed to take).

If you want a better life, you must do something different.

We’ve all heard that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

So stop expecting different results without taking different action.

Look at what’s possible.

What is possible and reasonable to expect if you continue down the road you’re on for the next ten years?

Is it just more of the same?

Is it even possible for your current job to give you the life you deeply desire?

In network marketing, at least you have the opportunity…. At least it’s possible!

If you’re looking for a wealth vehicle to start from scratch, a good question is the title of this post…

“Why Network Marketing?”

A better question is… “Why NOT?”

Why not try to do something that can compound over time?
Why not try to do something that at least gives you a shot at the life of  your dreams?
Start to dream again.
Let your goals and dreams fuel your business efforts.

If you do decide to go down this road, make sure you make a commitment to yourself and show up everyday.

Show up like you have something to prove.
Show up like a determined bulldog.
Show up like you’ve never shown up to anything else in your life.

Don’t dabble. Go all in.

Why Network Marketing: Reason #12
You Can Build the Dream Life You Want

There are no restrictions in network marketing.
Again, as cliché as it sounds, you are all that stands between you and massive success.

You can grow your business to any level you can envision.

Hellen Keller was once asked if she could think of anything worse than being blind.

She said, “Yes, if I woke up one day, put my feet on the floor, and realized I had no vision“.

Wow, talk about a powerful mindset!

In network marketing there are no overhead costs, no gender pay gaps, no discrimination, no language requirements, and as your experience and business grows, your income grows… exponentially.

Anyone with the right mindset, some perseverance, and a good dose of courage can succeed as a network marketer.

We all have our obstacles and inner demons.

Network marketing is about conquering those demons and getting paid to do it.

It’s personal development plan with a paycheck.

It’s not uncommon to reach a high pay level and realize you’ve been transformed into a different, stronger person.

That’s a by-product of this industry and if you ask any top earner, it’s one of the greatest benefits (even more so than the financial rewards).

When you have doubts or questions, there are countless people who have a vested interest in helping you succeed.

These people are at first acquaintances, then business partners, and as time marches on they become some of your best friends.

How do you define yourself?
How would you classify your life and existence?
Is it what you want?
Is it what you imagined as a kid?

Why not enter into an industry where you can ultimately define how you want to live and create the life that is known around the world as The American Dream.

Did you know that immigrants to this country are 4 times more likely to become a millionaire than those born here?

Why is that?

It’s because they believe in The American Dream and those of us born in the United States take it for granted.

Just something to think about.

#13) Network Marketing Gives You
the Ability to Change the Lives of Others

I saved this one for last because even though it doesn’t seem to directly relate to the multi-level marketing industry, it is the single best reason to build a network marketing organization.

Network Marketing has an interesting domino effect on the lives of those around you.

Your success will result in the improvement of the lives of countless other people.

MLM is a large-scale avenue to add something positive to the lives of family, friends, acquaintances, and even strangers.

Here a few ways that success in this industry helps you touch the lives of others.

  • Financially: The obvious here is that you provide and teach the framework and leadership to help others totally transform their financial world. But there’s more to it. Success means you have more resources, so you can give more (to your family, church, a worthy cause, etc.)
  • Physically: I promote health and nutritional products. The majority of the world is putting garbage in their bodies on a daily basis. It’s wreaking havoc on our physical well being. Natural, high quality products and supplements can help slow down, stop, or even reverse some of that damage.
  • Emotionally: People are hurting. Hurting people… hurt people. We live in a world cursed with hopelessness. I used to be a pessimistic and “life sucks” type of person. This industry has given me hope and a totally different outlook on life.
  • Spiritually: As I said, people are hurting. Sometimes they try to deal with the pain by filling the void with all sorts of things (alcohol, sex, drugs, work, etc.). But the void is never filled. That’s because the void was placed there by our Creator and only one thing can fill it… the Spirit of the Living God.
    • If you want to talk more about this idea, feel free to email me or learn more about your salvation. It is more important than any other topic on this site by far!

This business will make you bolder.

Trust me, once you talk to enough people about how some vitamin supplements and a misunderstood business model can change their lives forever… you really have no problem talking to them about anything, including spiritual matters.

So, while you’re creating wealth and abundance, you are also (and more importantly) enriching the lives of others and setting yourself up to do more for worthy causes.
